Returning it October 7, 2008 I was so excited when I registered for this bassinet. I thought it was the coolest on the market with it's nice, neutral colors, music options, and gliding motion. The day after my baby shower, this was the first thing my husband and put together. I was initially a little disappointed because the cover for the shelf does not remove, but I figured I could just cut the straps and use my sewing machine to add some new velcro ones. Then I was disappointed because the cover for the bed part is screwed into the bottom. What a pain to get those screws in and out to wash it, but I figured I would deal with it. The pathetic mattress is basically as thick as the changing pad that came with my diaper bag. So, I decided that I would just order a real bassinet mattress from naturepedic (which adds even more to the cost of this overpriced bassinet).
And then we put the batteries in. The music is nice with a volume control. The gliding motion has a speed control. The motor unfortunately has no sound control. It makes the loudest grinding noise going back and forth. You can even hear it with the music on the loudest setting. Don't even try to shut off the music because the motor sound will drive you insane. I know another reviewer called Fisher Price and they are sending a replacement. I really don't think that will make a difference. I really fell in love with this online, but now we'll be taking it apart, boxing it back up, and returning it to Amazon.
a little dissapointed October 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Yes, this bassinet is beautiful and the nature sounds are great. Unfortunately the motor that runs the glider is not so great! For the price I am very surprised that Fisher Price did not address this. In the manual it says the bassinet has to be on a level surface to avoid the gliding noises. Nothing has stopped the noises so far!
Beautiful but noisy! October 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
While I love the look of this product, it is extremely noisy when it is not gliding (though that is a little noisy too). My daughter is an active sleeper and each time she moves it causes the bassinet to shake, make noise, and many times wake her from her sleep! The last thing you want your bassinet to do is wake up your sleeping baby! I would suggest getting something more stationary to other parents.
Noisy and small September 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The product is very small. My 6LB newborn almost filled the entire bed area. The padding that they gave looked like a deflated pillow instead of a comfortable cozy environment for a baby. In addition the rocking motion was the most annoying sound short of nails on a chalk board. I could barely sleep myself with it on let alone my child. Unless Zen is a far eastern word for noisy, this is a poor adjective for this product. I would just as soon by an inexspensive rocker and put her to sleep that way. It was a very poor investment and one that I would not recommend anyone else make.
Overall very pleased September 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We ordered this bassinet for our daughter to keep her in our bedroom during the nighttime, so I don't have to climb up and down the stairs. Overall, I am very pleased with the product.
Pros: the coloring and style is very pretty, and construction seems sturdy. It is cozy for smaller babies.
Cons: as mentioned by other reviewers, the mattress is very flimsy and does smell terrible. I tried to air it out before use, but it still smells. The rocking/gliding motion makes a VERY annoying sound, like a grinding. Also, it does not have a timer, so there is no way to set how long it will glide for. There are 3 settings for sound; the womb noises, which I find less annoying during the night than actual music, does not play for very long (maybe 10 minutes?) and when the sound goes off, so does the rocking. So basically by the time I get back in bed and get comfortable, the rocking stops, the baby wakes up, and I have to pick her up again. If set for the music, it does rock for much longer.
Overall I do not dislike the bassinet compared to the other ones on the market which aren't as pretty, but I do think the price tag is steep for something they outgrow quickly that has such a flimsy mattress. I would buy this product again.
