This antique "Butterflies and Snowballs" quilt measures 72" x 84" and is hand appliqued and embroidered as well as hand quilted . Each butterfly block is done in a print and a solid, with the fabrics being repeated in the quarter "snowballs" in the corners of that block. Hand embroidered chain stitching outlines each piece of the butterfly and its antennae are done by hand as well. There is a nice variety of 1930's era prints and colors used. It has a muslin back and a thin batting. It appears to have seen very little use as there is no wear. The only problem is some dye transfer from some of the brighter colors when it was laundered, however, it does not detract from the appeal of this nice, usable quilt. From a smoke-free, pet-free home.
