The unit's stately silver finish and translucent CD door add visual touches of class, and its versatile CD playback modes include repeat and random play. Once plugged in, the clock will set itself, drawing on its factory installed 100-year calendar. The clock will even self-adjust for Daylight Savings time and leap years. It features a programmable sleep mode with independent sleep volume to select 15, 30, 60, or 90 minutes. Drift to sleep or wake to your choice of a favorite radio station, a favorite CD track, or any of the unit's 4 nature sounds. Amazon.com Product Description Equally suited to entertainment and utility, the Timex T617S is perfect for any bedroom or kitchen, offering accurate auto-set timekeeping, CD and radio playback, stereo speakers, onboard nature sounds, and an external audio input. The unit's stately silver finish and translucent CD door add visual touches of class, and its versatile CD playback modes include repeat and random play. Once plugged in, the clock will set itself, drawing on its factory-installed 100-year calendar (year/month/day, 2000 to 2099). The clock will even self-adjust for Daylight Savings time and leap years. It features a programmable sleep mode with independent sleep volume, too (select 15, 30, 60, or 90 minutes), so you can drift to sleep or wake to your choice of a favorite radio station, a favorite CD track, or any of the unit's 4 nature sounds: ocean surf, rushing brook, forest spring, and wind chimes. The T617S's 2 alarms each function independently, so both can be set for either the same or different wake signals. For radio listening, you'll enjoy drift-free digital PLL (phase-locked-loop) tuning with 12 preset stations for 1-touch tuning convenience for your favorites (6 FM, 6 AM). Use the clock's handy Smart Knob to quickly and easily adjust all settings and major functions. Ideal for a portable MP3 player or cassette player, the T617S's auxiliary audio input broadens your listening options to include any source you deem appropriate. Hookup with portable audio devices is a snap using the supplied stereo minijack-to-minijack audio cable. And, just to make sure you never miss an important appointment (if only some quality time with your shower or morning coffee), the clock also comes with Timex's Sure Alarm battery backup. Just install 3 AAA batteries (not included) to activate this feature. In the event of a power failure--or if you disconnect the AC power cord to move the clock--Sure Alarm will maintain your clock and alarm settings for the life of the batteries, ensuring that the alarms will sound at the appointed time (while operating on battery power, the alarms will sound only as buzzer). What's in the Box Clock, FM wire antenna, a stereo analog audio interconnect (minijack to minijack), and a user's manual with warranty information.

Good buy! November 16, 2008 Works fine. A little bulky, but the convenience of a combined radio and CD player is nice. The double-alarm feature is great, and I like the nature sounds. It's a good produce, and inexpensive. What you see is exactly what you get.
Avoid it like the plague! November 7, 2008 I should have listened to the gazillions of other disgruntled customers, but it was the only product that had the combination of features I wanted. What a HUGE waste of money!!!
The thing didn't work from the beginning. One speaker constantly cut out, but I had decided just to live with it. But within a month the so-called "Smart Knob" quit working entirely. Now the thing is useless - can't set the alarms, can't change the volume (permanently set at an inaudible "1"). What's the point? Can't use it as an alarm clock, can't use it as a stereo.
It's going in the garbage!
Do as I say and not as I did. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!
Flawed but functional November 5, 2008 I've had this alarm clock for over a year. It's functional, but flimsy. Lately the buttons on the top to set the 2 alarms frequently turn the nap timer on instead. And the button to turn the alarms on and off will change the brightness setting of the display. It's just not built well. Then there's the option to wake to any CD you want. That's what I was really looking forward to. The flaw is that it only plays the first track of the CD. You would think it would pick a track at random. I ended up burning a bunch of CDs with one track only so the clock would use the songs I wanted for the alarm, but that's a limited work around. I'm currently looking to replace this clock
VERY PRACTICAL October 18, 2008 I was looking for a clock/radio with a CD player when I saw the Timex.
I like the tall style and the dual alarm system.
I also like the fact that you can play the radio all night with the alarm on at the same time without using the sleep mode.
This is what I have been looking for.
Waking up to nature sounds rocks!! October 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought a couple radios that said "Wake up to nature sounds", but they sounded so mechanical. Where do I begin...With the Timex T617S I like the choices of nature sounds; my fave is the Tibeten sounding gongs, my other half prefers the frogs. I so enjoy being able to control how bright the time face is. I prefer to have the room as dark as possible, so in the past having that very bright green blue or red lighting of the time in my room always kept me up. Third big perk is controlling how long I snooze; lot's of options. My other half absolutely LOVES the "smart knob"; being able to turn the knob to set time, versus holding down a button. Doesn't it suck when you go past the time you need and you have to keep going forward. Better yet you try and speed up the process by continuously pressing the button. It's everything we need, plus more. We love it!
