Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The New York Times bestselling fifth novel in the Elm Creek Quilt series

Resolving to locate her mother's heirloom quilts after so many years, Sylvia Compson embarks on a cross-country investigation of antique shops, quilt museums, and other, more unexpected places, where offers of assistance are not always what they seem. And as Sylvia recovers some of the missing quilts and accepts others as lost forever, she reflects on the woman her mother was and mourns the woman she never knew.

With heartfelt honesty, The Quilter's Legacy reveals the tenuous connections that bind generations and celebrates the love that sustains them.

4 out of 5 stars Good Read   July 18, 2008
I only recently discovered this series of books and this is the second one I have read. Even though I have not read them in sucession I was able to get the gist of the interwoven people. I had tears in my eyes when Sylvia finally was able to find a quilt in tact and see her mother's talent finally be recoginzed. However, one flaw... editing needs to be a bit sharper. I noticed near the end of the book that during a trip Sylvia and Andrew took they started out in the mini van then in the next couple of paragrpahs it mentions the motor home, only to end up back in the mini van! I am a writer as well and these slips ups can and do happen. It does no detract from the story. if you are into quilts, history and just simple non-rauncey reading then these books are for you.

5 out of 5 stars Elm Creek Series book   July 17, 2008
I just had to have the entire Elm Creek series and the coordinating books to make the quilts.

5 out of 5 stars Sylvia uncovers more family history-excellent story again!   January 9, 2008
In this fifth book in the Elm Creek series, Sylvia is going to marry here long-time love, Andrew at last. And at the beginning of the story, she and Sara are up in the attic, searching for old quilts that had been her mother's handmade work. After not being able to locate them within the attic, she goes on a quest, searching the internet, and many other shops and quilting museums.

As Sylvia begins to recover some of her mom's heirloom quilts, she reflects on the woman her mother, Eleanor Lockwood was. The book goes back in time to when Eleanor was very young, raised by wealthy cold parents who showed their children little affection. Eleanor had always been a very sickly child after rheumatic fever weakened her heart. The doctors predicted she would not live into adulthood, but she went beyond expectations, and married Joe Bergstrom, much to her parents dislike, and ran away with him. She went on to have three children, and succombed to her death quite awhile later while raising them.

Andrew's children are anything but happy that he and Sylvia are getting married and there is a lot of friction within his family. The conflict is not really resolved, but of course, the two lovebirds marry anyway and life goes on.

5 out of 5 stars quilters legacy   June 17, 2007
I , as a quilter, do enjoy this series. Runaway quilt has been my favorite so far but love to follow the characters.
