Taking the Mystery out of Triangles November 4, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you have every felt unsure about triangles in quilts, this is the book for you. Learn how to cut and sew triangles without marking, using special tools or paper. Once you have learned how to measure and cut squares into triangles, you can make any size block. It's Quilt Magic will give you the confidence to make quilts with triangles. Make Mine Purple, Blended Batiks and Harvest Red & Gold are my favorite patterns. Great photography and beautiful quilts.
Unsquare object problems SOLVED! October 31, 2006 Unsquare objects! Every quilter knows just how much trouble that can be. But WAIT! Tammy Kelly shows us a way to create those "three-sided monsters" with ease in her book "It's Quilt Magic". She shares her "Secret Formula" for making triangles with no problems in the first four pages.
After that, she shares six quilts and all the yardage requirements, what pieces to cut and the order in which to sew the pieces together. Once you get that far, Tammy also helps with the outer borders and the binding. There is even two pages on how to create an accordion fold border which is one I LOVE but never could get the hang of until I read "It's Quilt Magic".
Tammy shares a gallery of quilts that show how just a turn of the block will give you a whole new look to a quilt. AND, don't forget different colors. Color can do so much to change the look of a quilt. The final section of the book gives instructions on things like rotary cutting, how to make sharp points, marking quilt lines, tips on quilting whether by hand or machine and bindings.
This is a book I plan to use in my quilting classes because it is easy to follow and gives so many possibilities with just a turn of a block.
