Woven Quilts, not for the novice August 13, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
A fabulous publication but not for the newbie in quilting. The photographs and detail to the work are stunning. Would I buy this book again? YES, because even the novice can pull it off the shelf later and give it a go when he/she has had a bit more experience in quilting.
Try incorporating small samples in your work or making small pieces to work into your creations until youre ready for the big picture.
Verrry Interesting!!!!! July 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
While I haven't made anything using this technique yet, I plan to - soon. The illustrations and descriptions seem to be very straightforward and easy to follow. Beautiful and inspiring photos!
Inspiring quilts. July 23, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is just stunning! I am dying to try some of the woven backgrounds for my next quilted wall hanging. I had ordered the book because it looked so interesting, then I was in my local quilt shop and saw a gorgeous quilt on the wall. When I asked about it I was told there was no pattern, it was an original design based on this book. And the quilter is 15! That gives me hope. My only tiny complaint is there isn't a good explanation on how to determine before you start cutting what the colors of the finished background will look like. This is likely more a failing on my part than the author's, as I'm not particularly good with color. I recommend this book to anyone looking for something different and creative. The author is truly an artist, and just looking through the pictures of her quilts make your fingers itch to start creating!
