Perfect Stars Every Time July 22, 2008
These are wonderful patterns, probably not for beginner paper-piecers, but Carol Doak's instructions are great. The DVD in the book shows you her method if you aren't fortunate to take a class directly from Carol as I was. I also purchased the Foundation Factory CD Companion Software for 50 Fabulous Paper-Pieced Stars so that I can print out the patterns any size onto Carol Doak's Foundation Paper. It's all good!!!!

The CD contains the authors tips...but that is not really that valuable if you are not a novice at paper piecing. The stars are all large and difficult to copy and multiple manipulations would be needed to reduce the size and make multiple copies. The difficulty in copying and changing the size of the blocks makes this book to difficult and not at all fun to use or own. I feel like I wasted $28 on the book. If the CD had the patterns so that you could easily print and vary the size it might have been a nice investment.

This book and CD have changed my quilting life !!
I am now making the most perfect stars. I am just thrilled. The book and CD are so easy and so inspiring. Often I find an inspiring book which doesn't actually lead to me making the projects, not so with Carol Doaks book, which is one of my greatest treasures and never far from my cutting table. I can see so many fabulous quilts ahead. I scanned the templates to my computer and can now print off as many as I like when I need them, so no need to constantly trace everything. Thank you Carol for this marvellous book.

Carol makes stars so incredibly easy to do.
Her directions are easy to follow. By combining differnt elements from the 50 stars, the number of possile stars in staggering!

Excellent, precise directions are given for producing an A-1 product. The CD which accompanies the book gives step-by-step guidance that can be applied to any of the "stars" in this book. Cutting instructions are explicit; nothing left to guess about. I have made several projects from this book, and plan to do more. Also, the tips given can be applied to many other paper-pieced projects. I only wish ALL directions were as clear!
