Product Description Smart quilters have used the sewing machine for piecing, applique and quilting ever since it came into common use. Today, most quilters save hand quilting for their finest patchwork and applique projects. This book is meant as a technical guide to replicate a nineteenth-century-style hand quilting technique. Quilters wanting some tips and answers about improving their own technique will find many helpful suggestions. A non-stress positioning of the quilting hands is emphasized for maximum efficency and painless hand quilting - except for the occasional, too enthusiastic, needle prick.

In the description given of the book I thought there would be more illustrations shown in the book of the progressive steps and tools needed
Good basic book January 16, 2007 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
A good basic book for anyone wanting to learn to hand quilt. Lots of pictures and very clear directions. The pictures are mainly black and white but it does not detract from the effectiveness of the various lessons.
I learned a few tricks that helped me to understand some of the things I was doing incorrectly and it has helped to improve my skills.

Wonderful! June 3, 2000 32 out of 32 found this review helpful
I love quilting, although I have only been learning the art for the past year. Quilting does not have a tradition in my family -- and this book was the wonderful teacher I had, since I did not have family who could teach me.This book walks through step by step the process of "no-stress" hand quilting. From preparing the fabric, the controversey of knots in patchwork, to small projects to work on. A wonderful reference book for the beginning quilter, like myself (and with techniques that could also help more advanced quilters).
