4 out of 5 stars Good look into the Amish world   December 6, 2007

When Hannah Lapp refuses to admit to something she didn't do, her Old Order Amish community turns against her, branding her a moral failure. Isolated and unable to find support from the people she's known all of her life, she makes the most difficult decision of her young life. Her choice throws her already torn family into more turmoil, especially her jealous younger sister, Sarah.

Cindy Woodsmall's book is a good look at life in one Old Order community-the good and the bad. I look forward to reading the second book in the series, When the Morning Comes (Sisters of the Quilt #2).

When the Heart Cries has been such a joy to read. I became immersed with the characters, especially Hannah. So many times throughout the book I wanted to reach in and hug her, tell her everything is going to be alright and tell her what a strong young woman she is. I cannot say anything else without ruining the story for future readers... and I know there will be plenty!
I can't wait to buy the next book in the series. In fact, I am going to do that now!
Cindy Woodsmall is one of the best new authors out there. She really knows how to captivate her readers!
