Product Description
Thread Painting is a wonderful way to add texture, dimension and interest to any quilt or sewing project. This book shows you how anyone can thread paint using any sewing machine, by using paper stabilizer papers and photo transfer fabric that go through a computer printer. No more tracing, drawing or painting onto fabric first. First you will learn free motion sewing; how to use that to do thread sketches, and then how to translate those skills into thread painting. There are lots of projects with easy to follow instructions with full sized patterns and scannable images. This technique is great for traditional quilts, art quilts, clothing, home dec--a wide variety of uses!

3 out of 5 stars Not for a beginner   October 28, 2008
This is not a book for a beginner. I have been sewing for many years but am having trouble with this skill. The book makes it look so easy yet even with practicing I am no where near having something that looks decent. I will keep practicing because I like the look and hope I can get to a level that is passable.

Although I love the cat instructions, I found nothing else in the book that was good for me. I didn't like that it has all clothing things to make and not nice scenic or more animals, or even some flowers.
Very disappointing book for me.

Kudos to Leni for her book. I have bought a panel and started thread painting. It is great. I am finally an artist.

This book is wonderful! The instructions are so easy to follow. The creative ideas are endless. It definitely takes you to next level with quilting. The best part is, you don't have to be able to draw!!!!! You can feel the author's energy, it's contagious!
