A Must Have! October 5, 2007 This is the best swaddle out there! My baby slept through the night the first time I put her in it. At 6 weeks she is sleeping 6-7 hours a night when swaddled in the Boppy swaddle. She was able to break out of all others that we tried including blankets, but she stays in this one all night. It's also very soft. However, it is a bit on the small size so it won't be good for more than a few months. My baby weighs about 10lbs now and it fits her perfectly. I'm hoping she won't need it after she grows out of it.
We've had 5 swaddlers, this is the best! June 20, 2007 Kiddopotamus minky chenille (@$20), Halo Sleepsack w/ the swaddler for newborns-cotton (@$20.00), Miracle Swaddler -cotton (@$30.00), a stretchy cotton blanket (30"x40"...$15.00) & this. This is by far the least expensive, fastest swaddle time-Kiddopotamus is a close 2nd-, and most comfortable fabric for the summer or layering with blankets.
Kiddopotamus minky chenille is good for about 8.5 lbs + and colder weather, but isn't as fast to swaddle and sometimes she could kick the belly panel down. Halo sleepsack w/ the swaddler is good too but the swaddler only comes on the newborn size and the sack itself is too short for her legs since she was about 22" long but is good otherwise. The miracle swaddler was a huge pain because it takes a lot of surface area and 3 minutes + to swaddle & it seemed to irritated her because she didn't like the fuss to unswaddle her & she was TOO confined. The stretchy blanket at that size works really well until they are 21" +. However, you need a good amount of surface area to do this correctly, and you have to be mindful to smooth & pull of all the fabric bumps out from under baby's back. Who has time to bother with the last two I've mentioned between feedings, burping, diapering & sleeping?!
One of these has lasted through one to two washings in cold water and low/knit dry cycle per week for 3 months now! The pink print and ribbon edge is really sweet. Just be sure to close all velcro when you wash & dry it so this doesn't snag the ribbon.
I have to say that this has been the overall best VALUE AND PRODUCT $10.00 we've spent on any swaddling peripheral. The fabric is stretchy and comfortable for her without frustrating her by binding her arms too tightly. At almost 6 lbs. to 9 lbs. 23" baby length, it was a perfect size and the sleep she's getting was well worth $10.00 for almost 3 months now. $3.33/month is nothing for the gift of sleep!
Since I've had her, everytime I've left the house everyone mentions knowingly that they "remember those sleepless nights". I assume these people didn't swaddle because I don't know what they're talking about! Now we're looking for one that is a little larger since she's 10 lbs. and getting longer.
