1 out of 5 stars BOH-RING   August 6, 2008
the author had a brain fart, and somehow got a publisher to buy into this. I can't believe it. Basically the author rants about what a child with this name could turn out to be, but in a non-homourous and vaguely redundant fashion. Its introduction is as dry as rice cakes, and refers to a previous intro that was editted out...so why are we hearing about it?? Maybe that should have been a clue that I spent too much for this waste of time. The only part of the book worth anything, is the cover. The stipple print art is cute. The rest is trash. Save your money!!!

1 out of 5 stars Seriously Not Funny   April 14, 2008

In this book, there is one Feminine and Masculine name for every letter of the alphabet, except X. These are some of the names in the book, Zach, Wendy, Randy, Melinda, Jim, Hilary (ok I'll give you that one),Grant, Dennis ... for the most, very ordinary names. What is humorous about the name Jim ? Or bad for that matter ? I was really expecting something with more imagination that would be fun to read. This is a small book, measuring less than 6" x 4" and about 1/4 inch thick. Save your money, buy a comic book, it would be more amusing. (Well, maybe, it's been years since I've read one). Sorry I couldn't give a better review on this book. I'm amazed it even got into print.

The humor of names has been a hobby of mine for years, but this book really wasn't what I expected -- i.e., it wasn't very funny or very interesting. To read about the amazing things that real people have actually named their babies, there are much book choices. However, this book has a great cover picture.

5 out of 5 stars great humor!   March 23, 2008

Great little book to give as a gift at a baby shower or to expective parents. A humorous dry wry look at names we have been using forever. The author has it right ON!!! I enjoyed this tremendously. Very funny and true observations...Just wish it could have gone on forever with thousands of names. I loved it.....not a baby book but a real eye opener. What did he say about your Name????
